This little brass crab may have once been used as a decorative ashtray. If you lift his hinged shell there is an indented crevice, designed for a cigarette to rest in. This inner compartment is removable and I think he makes a much better trinket box to conceal small treasured keepsakes. I would love to know who he once belonged to. It's very easy to picture him sitting in the corner of a grand old house on a clifftop.

Perfectly imperfect finish with tarnish spots and scuffs that celebrate his age.
